EMEA’s biggest regional tournament for the year finished up over the weekend, and it was quite the rollercoaster from start to finish!
Congratulations to Twisted Minds (Lu, Perfect1ks, BatulinS, Syprro & TheTab) on their phenomenal win!
Unstoppable Momentum
Watching last year’s PGC 2022, Twisted Minds looked absolutely gutted that they had lost out on the World Champion title to NAVI. Regardless of whether the heartbreaking defeat had a motivating effect for the team, it’s hard to ignore that their performance ever since last year’s PGC has been nothing short of dominant.
After beginning their year with a 4th place finish in PEC: Spring, the team rose to new heights with back-to-back first place finishes in The Rotation and the PGS 2 EMEA Qualifiers (and a subsequent phenomenal second place finish in PGS 2). All of this to say – even before they became the PEC: Fall Champions, Twisted Minds were already having a truly dominant year, made even more impressive by their win last weekend which now puts them at three major EMEA tournament victories in a row this year.
A Tale Of Two Teams
Throughout Day 2 of the Finals, both Twisted Minds and FaZe Clan managed to secure a breakaway lead from the rest of the teams. By the end of Day 2 – just after the midpoint of the Finals – FaZe Clan just slightly pulled ahead of Twisted Minds, who had managed to put 46 points between themselves and Question Mark in third place.

Coming into Day 3, all eyes were on FaZe and Twisted Minds - for their part, Twisted Minds had a phenomenal first two games which allowed them to regain the pole position from FaZe. Despite taking the Chicken Dinner in the final match of the day, FaZe just missed out on the top spot, with Twisted Minds taking home the tournament title by only three points!

PGC Qualification
Coming into the tournament, Twisted Minds was in the unique position of being the only team that had already qualified for PGC 2023 (as a result of their strong performances in PGS 1 & 2).
Even if the team hadn’t already qualified through the separate PGS qualification slot, they would have qualified as the winners of PEC: Fall (and they had the highest amount of total PGC points before PEC: Fall!). This has pretty much never happened in PUBG Esports history and is testament to the dominant position of Twisted Minds in the EMEA region.
For the rest of the teams, PEC: Fall had some critical implications with regards to PGC Qualification.
The following EMEA teams qualified to PGC 2023:
Twisted Minds
FUT Esports
FaZe Clan
Acend
HOWL
Question Mark
Exalt
Reigning World Champions NAVI have had a relatively slower year – and despite triumphing over Twisted Minds in last year’s PGC, their placement in PEC: Fall was not enough to secure PGC qualification following a few disappointing performances this year (such as not qualifying to The Rotation - where Twisted Minds picked up the most points of any EMEA team by winning the tournament).
