Another insane week of PCS5 action has graced our screens, and with it comes the excitement of ASIA, APAC, Americas, and Europe’s final 12 matches before the PUBG Global Championship!
In just 12 matches, 16 teams will fight for the largest share of $250,000k+ to finalize our expected list of teams dropping into PGC 2021 later this year. After PCS5 Week 2, we can start to understand how PGC Points may be allocated in each region, but an unexpected PCS5 Week 3 win nets $29k for the skilled team and can greatly shift the PGC leaderboards.
A fresh reset of the leaderboard and teams were back in the Battlegrounds to earn $20k as the PCS5 Week 2 Weekly Winners. This win would favorably position them at the top of their regional leaderboard. For some, this is huge assurance headed into Week 3 where more cash and the ultimate reach for PGC Points await.
There’s a lot to check in on for PCS5 Week 2 including Prize Rank, PGC analysis, and PEPS+!
Ready up, submit those picks, and get ready - PCS5 Week 3 runs September 30th through October 3rd!
Another round of matches in PCS5 APAC and Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang found themselves at the top of the leaderboard again! At the end of Day 1, Bao Nam United was the only team with 2 Chicken Dinners, but was quickly matched by Fury, Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang, and GAMEHOME Ha Dong in Day 2. In an unbelievable and exciting turn of events, UNP picked up the Match 12 Chicken Dinner with 10+ kills to overcome Fury and Bao Nam United.
Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang’s current Prize Rank is secure - sitting at a healthy $37,000, but PCS5 APAC Week 3 leaves a small window of opportunity to further themselves to accumulate PGC Points.
In APAC, the PGC Points are awarded as follows:
APAC region receives 6 total seats, and to ensure global representation will enlist the Best Thailand team and Best Vietnam team, alongside the PCS4 and PCS5 Champions, and 2 teams in leading PGC Points.
Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang needs the PCS5 win as other teams lurk in the distance ready to strike for PGC!
The Americas region was shaken to the core in Week 2 of the PCS5 Americas Grand Final. At the end of Day 1, Oath was the only team to have 2 Chicken Dinners! Right behind them were Soniqs, FIUMBA, Dignitas, and Spacestation Gaming!
In Day 2, Oath took it to 100% to pick up 2 more Chicken Dinners - being the only team in the Americas to feed the squad with 4 dinners. In an insane Match 12 moment, FIUMBA scored their second Chicken Dinner to place up 4 positions and claim serious cash! Still, it’s way too close to call it for the Americas region - Soniqs are destined for PGC but other teams want the cash and points!
In the Americas, the PGC Points are awarded as follows:
1st Place - PGC
2nd Place - 330
3rd Place - 265
4th Place - 220
5th - 16th place - Earn between 175 and 20 Points
The Americas region receives 6 total seats, and to ensure global representation will enlist the best opposite sub-region team from the PCS5 Championship. The Top 4 teams in PGC Points will qualify outside of PCS5 Champion and sub-region counterpart.
It’s safe to say Soniqs (605) will make it into PGC 2021 with their total points, but if they win PCS5 there’s potentially another team pushed into the invitation! The leading teams in LATAM are currently FIUMBA (210), Young Kings (180), and A CRECHE (135).
PCS5 Week 2 Asia
Week 2 in PCS5 ASIA was as insane, technical, and incredible as ever! The lobby is fiercely contesting for PGC invites, and naturally, the PCS5 Asia Championship. At the end of Week 2’s first 6 matches, ATA was the only team to see 2 Chicken Dinners with 17Gaming, Games Forever Young, Gen.G, and Danawa e-sports holding the remaining dinners.
Petrichor Road was nowhere to be seen until Match 10 and Match 11 where they scored back to back Chicken Dinners and coupled with their insane kill advantage, skyrocketed to the top of the leaderboards! The PCS4 Asia Championship team landed a huge play to take the Week 2 Weekly Win!
In Asia, the PGC Points are awarded as follows:
1st Place - 300
2nd Place - 180
3rd Place - 144
4th Place - 120
5th - 16th place - Earn between 95 and 12 Points
Asia will receive 12 total seats - the most of any region - and to ensure global representation wil provide 4 sub-region tickets for PCL Summer aka NewHappy, PWS: East Asia Phase 2 aka Gen.G, Best Japanese team, and Best TW/HK/MO team.
Petrichor Road (200) lead the PGC Point leaderboard with GHIBLI Esports (120, KaiXin Esports (96), and Multi Circle Gaming (80) behind. The region is hotly anticipated and playing fiercely in the final 12 matches before PGC 2021!
PCS5 Europe Grand Final was as neck and neck as ever with 6 different teams holding Chicken Dinners at the end of Day 1! At the top, Team Liquid, FaZe Clan, Virtus.pro, and Natus Vincere - a powerhouse of teams - with Team Liquid leading the kill count.
At the end of 12 matches, only 2 teams would score 2 Chicken Dinners - Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan! FaZe Clan thought they had the win in the bag until xmpl and NAVI wiped the lobby in Match 12 for a dramatic overtaking of the leaderboard!
Although Virtus.pro is still holding strong, they're in hot pursuit by Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan who celebrated huge payouts in Week 2!
In Europe, the PGC Points are awarded as follows:
1st Place - PGC
2nd Place - 330
3rd Place - 265
4th Place - 220
5th - 16th place - Earn between 175 and 20 Points
Europe region receives 8 total seats, and to ensure global representation will enlist the best team from West EU, CIS, and MEA within the Top 8 PGC Points, defaulting to the next highest if those teams present under the Top 8!
Currently, Virtus.pro (815), Team Liquid (415), Natus Vincere (315), Heroic (275), ENCE (260), Entropiq (250), FaZe Clan (215), and Question Mark (180) lead the Top 8!
PEPS+ highlights players and teams in the lobby post-event, ranking players against each other in battle typing and statistics. It’s the PUBG devs way of sharing playstyles, patterns, and more with the PUBG Esports fans! Watch the stand-out players and play like a pro the next time you drop into the Battlegrounds!
PCS5 APAC Week 2 - Weekly Winner Team Average
Compared to PCS5 APAC Week 1, Unicorn Phoenix Da Nang struggled to keep the performance high compared to the lobby, but still managed to lock in crucial wins and kill points! They played reserved when most needed, but otherwise took a center-oriented and tight team approach!
PCS5 APAC Week 2 - Top Overall Player
Fludd is back to back as the Top Overall player in PCS5 APAC! The lad is fragging and leaving behind HUGE plays to build a strong highlight reel. Boasting huge stats compared to the lobby, Fludd is taking angles but managing to survive on the team. FURY fans - be proud!
PCS5 Americas Week 2 - Weekly Winner Team Average
Oath said, “Let’s give them something new!” and Americas fans rejoiced. Oath finally dismantles Soniqs from a 4-turn back-to-back PEPS+ focus in the Americas region.
The group plays tight and knows that survival is key with almost 85% in Placement Points. Other than those factors, they’re versatile and balanced to control the Week 2 lobby. Let’s cheer on Oath heading into the PCS5 Americas Week 3 Grand Final!
PCS5 Americas Grand Final Week 2 - Top Overall Player
Kickstart deserves and earns a moment to shine after having decimated in PCS5 Americas Week 2. A near-perfect PEPS+ style advantage with good teamwork and positioning to power battle typings. Oath may place, but Kickstart is focused on dealing damage as the Top Player this week!
PCS5 Asia Week 2 - Weekly Winner Team Average
Petrichor Road is back from a bruised PCS5 Asia Week 2 - having come out on top in an amazing late-weekend back-to-back Chicken Dinner play. Staying central on the circle is key - requiring flexibility on rotations and constant communication! When it mattered most, Petrichor Road was there to do damage as one of the best mechanically skilled teams in the region!
PCS5 Asia Week 2 - Top Overall Player
Multi Circle Gaming is a standout team in the PUBG Esports Asia circuit and Tanki995 continues to further the game with the crew. “All attack, all the time,” must be the motto as kill point, offensive, and attack item hit highs!
Keep an eye out for Multi Circle Gaming as they have the tendency to pop off some weekends and can really shake up PCS5 Asia Week 3!
PCS5 Europe Week 2 - Weekly Winner Team Average
Natus Vincere brought back the Weekly Winner with an insane clutch Match 12 WWCD! Their squad play is wide but centralized on circle rotations, leaving plenty of room for the squad to strike, flex, and communicate. The PCS5 Europe lobby must have an insane player pool because our top teams are struggling to frag out but rather just edge their victories onto the competition! This is great training headed into PGC 2021.
PCS5 Europe Grand Final Week 2 - Top Overall Player
Back in PCS4, xmpl was the back to back to back PEPS+ overall player - that’s every week! It’s great to see a top-performing player re-situate themselves at the top with incredible PEPS+ stats to show. He’s a fragger at the core, but also has shown up for so many 1 vs multiple-enemy encounters!
