The PCS7 Europe Grand Finals are about to kick off and we can’t wait to see Europe’s finest teams face off against each other for a share of the $250,000 prize pool and a shot to qualify for PGC 2022.
The Group, Elimination and Last Chance Qualifier Stages have already seen their fair share of ups, downs and surprises - here’s what you need to know about Europe’s hottest teams ahead of our 2 weekends of Grand Finals (be sure to tune in on Sep 30 - Oct 2 & Oct 7 - 9)!
The Favorites
When Northern Lights Team and OVERPEEKERS topped their respective groups early in the competition, nobody was too surprised - both squads are legendary in PUBG Esports and have a long list of tournament wins to back them up. Hot on the heels of their second place finish in PCS6, Lu and Perfect1ks of Northern Lights had an unparalleled damage lead over the rest of their players in their group. There’s a lot at stake for Northern Lights as they’ll no doubt be looking to get picked up by an org ahead of PGC 2022.
Elsewhere, OVERPEEKERS secured a dominant win in their respective group with over 22 kills more than second place. After a 5th place finish in PCS6, OVERPEEKERS have clearly set their sights on the top spot for PCS7. Their status as one of the top PUBG teams undoubtedly remains and it’ll be interesting to see how they fare in the finals.
Most PUBG Esports fans will probably agree that FaZe Clan have some of the most decorated and well-known players in the whole scene. Fexx was part of the PNC 2022-winning UK squad, and D1gg3r1 had the most damage dealt of any player in the PCS7 Elimination Stage. After initially failing to qualify in a shaky Group Stage (placing 10th), FaZe managed to bring it back with a stellar performance in the Elimination Stage and qualified comfortably in second place.
Old Veterans
The Woo put on a very strong performance qualifying 4th in the Group Stage, proving that the squad composed of veteran players ibiza, Besto and Qwizzy – along with new talent Nixyzee – absolutely still have what it takes to compete with Europe and MENA’s best. With such a strong performance against the cream of the crop, we’re eager to see how The Woo will measure up to the rest of the PCS7 Europe finalists.
New Faces
One of the more notable dark horse squads was win or die, who initially took an overwhelming lead over FaZe Clan and managed to hold it all the way through until the end of the Elimination Stage, ultimately qualifying in first place. The team is relatively unknown, so it’ll be interesting to see how they fare when all of the already-qualified teams from the group stage are added back into the mix!
ACEND also had a major win, qualifying with a commanding 4th place finish in the Group Stage. The all-German and Austrian squad has made major strides in recent months - rising up from fairly mediocre tournament placements to become one of Europe’s top teams. We’re really excited to see how they play in the Grand Finals!
The PCS7 Europe Grand Finals (Sep. 30- Oct. 2 & Oct. 7- 9) will be the culmination of months of hard work and practice for the teams competing, and for good reason – the team who wins the PCS7 Europe Grand Finals will automatically qualify for the upcoming PUBG Global Championship (PGC 2022) in Dubai. Placing well in PCS7 will also reward teams with PGC points, which they can use to qualify for the PGC.
