PCS7 Europe Grand Finals Week 1 Recap

The first weekend of the PCS7 Europe Grand Finals has concluded and it was one of the most exciting ones yet! Here’s a brief recap of how it all went down.

Consistency is often the name of the game in PUBG Esports – and Polish Power’s ability to rack up points regardless of what the Battlegrounds throws at them has allowed them to swiftly climb to the top of the leaderboard. The team originally entered PCS7 through the Open Qualifiers and subsequently just squeaked by in the Playoffs, qualifying 6th in the Elimination Stage.

Northern Lights, who won G-Loot Seasons 5 and 6, were one of the favorites to win PCS7 Europe going into the Grand Finals. They had a very strong performance during the first day, placing at the top of the leaderboard with 65 points but have since slipped down to the 6th position with only 30 points gained during days 2 and 3.

Each of the current top four teams have entered PCS7 through the Open Qualifiers. Besides Polish Power, there’s Question Mark, the Woo and win or die, who currently occupy 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place respectively. Both Question Mark and the Woo had a bit of a slump during Day 2 but picked up the pace towards the end of Day 3, especially the Woo who jumped up six places to finish in 3rd position and closed out the weekend with a Chicken Dinner. In a similar series of events, win or die jumped seven places in a similar time frame, becoming tied in 4th place with FaZe Clan on 103 points.

Surprisingly, the highest number of eliminations within a single match came from HOWL with 3 squad wipes and 18 eliminations total. While they didn’t get the Chicken Dinner, it certainly made for a spectacular show! Honorable mention also goes to ACEND’s ItzzChrizZ in Match 15 who took a stealth ride into the zone in an enemy pickup and decimated the unsuspecting HOWL players, gaining an extra 4 points (2 from elimination and 2 from placement) for his team.

This is one of the most competitive and hard-fought editions of PCS yet - as shown by just how tight the points differential is between each team with only 25 points separating the 5th place from the 13th. Such a high density middle pack has made it hard even for very experienced teams like OVERPEEKERS and NAVI to find a sure footing. On the upside, this makes for an even more dramatic and exciting final week of the Grand Finals with so many teams having everything to fight for.

Be sure to tune in to see who will be crowned the PCS7 Europe Champions and which teams will get to fight for the world title at PGC 2022.

The final matches of PCS7 Europe Grand Finals will run from October 7 to October 9, with matches broadcast live from 19:00 CEST at Twitch and YouTube.
