Everything You Need To Know Before PGC 2024
2024-12-04

It’s almost time for the crowning jewel of the PUBG Esports calendar - The PUBG Global Championship!

From December 9th, 24 of the world’s best PUBG Esports teams will face off to be crowned the World Champion.

If you’ve haven’t tuned in to PUBG Esports for a while - or if you’re joining us for the first time - then keep reading to find out everything you need to know about PGC 2024, and the major storylines from the year so far!

Format

PGC 2024 will feature a fresh new format for the Group Stage called The Circuit System. Over the course of three 3-day circuits, teams will battle for survival. Finish below the Top 12 on any day, and you’ll have to wait until the next circuit kicks off in order to keep stacking your points. At the end of all three circuits, the Top 16 teams with the most points overall will advance to the Grand Finals.

The Grand Finals will be played in the traditional S.U.P.E.R. format, where teams will face off across 18 matches over three days in an all-out brawl to amass the most points and be crowned the PGC Champion.

The Year So Far

2024 has been  an action-packed year of global PUBG Esports tournaments!

It’s been an especially historic couple of months for Twisted Minds’ superstar squad of BatulinS, Lu, Perfect1ks and xmpl. The team had long been considered one of - if not the best - teams in the EMEA region, but until this year they were struggling to convert that momentum into a global tournament win. Whatever aspect of their gameplay they worked on in order to cross that rubicon seems to have been paying off in spades, with the team currently looking pretty much unstoppable in the wake of their back-to-back tournament titles at the PUBG Global Series 5 and 6.

Even with that said, Twisted Minds are not infallible - Soniqs and Cerberus Esports have been close on their backs throughout the year, picking up one tournament title a piece and going from strength to strength throughout this year - you certainly can’t take them out of the conversation for PGC 2024.

Elsewhere, a number of other contender teams have been quietly putting up consistently strong performances. Keep an eye out for 17Gaming, TSM, Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan as they’re liable to pop off on a moment’s notice.
