Twisted Minds crowned PEC: Spring 2024 Champions - Full Recap!
2024-04-08

The Spring edition of the PUBG EMEA Championship has just concluded! As is pretty much always the case in EMEA, the tournament ended on a dramatic note - with Twisted Minds snatching the Championship title by just one single point! MadBulls finished the tournament in second place, with NAVI ending in third.

An Unquestionable Legacy

Twisted Minds’ phenomenal win is by no means an outlier for the team. The squad of Perfect1ks, xmpl, spyrro and BatulinS are no strangers to tearing up the battlegrounds on the regional and global stages. Indeed, PEC: Spring 2024 is now their fourth major regional tournament win in less than a year - having previously won PEC: Fall 2023, the PGS 2 EMEA Qualifier, and The Rotation. On the Global Stage, the team took podium spots at PGS 2, and PGC 2023.

The Tournament Journey

Playing on the last two days of the Group Stage, Twisted Minds came out swinging - with a fifth place finish in Day 2, which they bettered into a third place finish on Day 3, allowing them to qualify to the Grand Finals Stage behind BB Team and MadBulls with ease. Throughout the Group Stage, the team’s calculated lethality seemed to make all the difference - for example, even though Twisted Minds earned less placement points than Acend Club (who ended the Stage in fourth), they more than made up for it with 69 kill points - which ended up putting the team nine points ahead of Acend in the Group Stage overall.

The rivalry between MadBulls and Twisted Minds which began in the Group Stage as they both battled to take first place out of BB Teams’ hands would eventually turn into an all-out scramble for the Championship title during the Grand Finals Weekend.

By the end of Day 1 of the Grand Finals, Madbulls was leading the pack with a narrow nine-point lead over Twisted Minds following back-to-back chicken dinners at the beginning of the day. MadBulls then went on to have a phenomenal Day 2, drastically widening their lead to 152 points (relative to Twisted Minds’ 126 points). While a lesser team may have crumbled under the pressure of a twenty-six point deficit, Twisted Minds was unshakeable - and during the course of Day 3, rapidly closed the gap with a series of impeccable performances across Day 3. While MadBulls also had some phenomenal games of their own, they were less consistent overall - allowing Twisted Minds to inch out the tournament victory in Match 18.

Twisted Minds’ consistency and confidence as a team is unparalleled - even though they only had one chicken dinner in the entire Grand Finals (MadBulls took four) they were still able to take the Championship title because (unlike pretty much everyone else) they just didn’t really have any bad games.

PGS and Beyond

With Twisted Minds being invited to PGS 3 & 4 as a Global Partner Team - and MadBulls joining them in both events, having qualified as a result of their PEC: Spring performance - we certainly haven’t seen the last of this emerging rivalry!

Twisted Minds and MadBulls will be joined by FaZe Clan, NAVI and HOWL at both events, where they’ll take on each other and the best PUBG teams from around the world!
