The Rotation concluded last weekend - and what a tournament it was! Here’s everything you need to know about the latest storylines in EMEA:
A New Rivalry
The big story of The Rotation was undoubtedly Twisted Minds’ triumphant win - after Match 7, the squad was firmly in second place, trailing FUT Esports by a hefty 43 points. Following this however, Twisted Minds put on some truly phenomenal performances which catapulted them up the scoreboard during Day 2. After an exceptional 18-kill game at the beginning of the final day (Day 3), the team were within striking distance of FUT Esports – and on Match 14, they closed the distance and took the lead for the first time in the tournament. In a dramatic final Match, Twisted Minds went out fifth - but after Exalt eliminated FUT Esports in fourth place, it was clear that Twisted Minds had done enough to win the tournament - by just three points! HOWL Are Still The Top Dogs
HOWL followed up their breakout victory in PEC: Spring with a very respectable sixth place finish in The Rotation – and as a result, they remain on top of the pack of EMEA teams in terms of PGC Points earned so far this year. Will they be able to keep the top spot as we move towards the PGS 2 EMEA Qualifiers (signups are still open, by the way) and PEC: Fall? Only time will tell!
A Terrific Debut
Pod Samolet may not have had the most impressive start to their tournament – qualifying in Phase 3 by the skin of their teeth – but they put on a very strong performance in the Grand Finals weekend and ended in seventh place overall. Will we see more of this dark horse team in the second half of this year’s season?
A Surprising Upset
Of all of the teams competing in the Grand Finals, one team was conspicuously missing – NAVI. After just missing out on Grand Finals qualification by one position, the World Champions will need to make up ground in this year’s remaining tournaments if they want to secure their spot at PGC 2023; but with the majority of this year’s PGC points yet to be awarded, there’s still plenty of time for them to close the distance!
As you can see, the competition is hotter than ever in EMEA – and the six qualification slots are all to play for as we move towards our final two tournaments of the year, the PGS 2 EMEA Qualifiers and PEC: Fall.
And if you want to join the ladder and compete yourself, registrations for the PGS 2 EMEA Open Qualifiers are open until June 11!
See you on the Battlegrounds!
