Hello PUBG Esports fans,

The PUBG GLOBAL INVITATIONAL.S is just around the corner and promises to be our biggest tournament to date! Teams from around the world have already started making their way to Korea in preparation for the tournament starting on February 8th.

Many of you have been following the news of your favorite teams, even seeing some of them post about their arrival in Korea. With some of the invited teams sharing this information, we wanted to give some clarity on what the tournament format will be.

It’s been quite difficult trying to organize a tournament during such a widespread pandemic, and our first goal has been everyone’s safety, followed closely by maintaining a fair and competitive play environment.

With this in mind, we made the decision that PGI.S will be a LAN/online hybrid tournament.

But how can we run a competitive, fair tournament like this? Teams outside of the tournament region, who would have a less than ideal connection to the tournament, have been invited to fly in and set up here. Other teams in regions such as China, Japan, and Chinese Taipei, will remain in their home region, where the connection to the tournament does not suffer as much as elsewhere.

The overall goal is to prevent travel and risk wherever possible and we will be working hard to provide a fair, equal competitive environment to both online and offline teams. This includes enhanced anti-cheat monitoring and preventive discipline.

Teams who have already made the trip to PGI.S have been safely quarantined, following the national quarantine guidelines and are currently in the isolation facility for next two weeks before the tournament begins.

We know none of this is ideal for a global tournament but unfortunately the current world situation means we have to think outside the box in order to keep running such events. Still, safety and fairness remain our top goals as we work to bring you the biggest PUBG tournament yet.

Thanks and we’ll see you on February 8th!
