PUBG Esports Europe: everything you need to know!
2022-05-17

All the key details in one place as our exciting PUBG Esports journey continues!

With PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS transitioning to a free-to-play model this year we’re delighted to welcome new fans to the exciting world of PUBG Esports. Keeping that in mind, we thought it would be helpful to share a little reminder about what PUBG Esports is all about – both for new fans joining us and the veterans amongst you who have been with us from the start!

So step this way for a deep dive into PUBG Esports, and if you think we’ve missed anything then let us know over on Twitter!

What is PUBG Esports?

PUBG Esports is the ecosystem in which competitive PUBG exists. Players, teams and tournaments span across four global regions (Europe, APAC, The Americas and Asia) which host a wide range of levels from the professional all the way down to the grassroots.

Who can compete in PUBG Esports?

One of the most exciting things about PUBG Esports is anyone who meets the tournament age requirements can compete at some level. Many tournaments, such as PCS6 Europe, host open qualifiers where players of all levels and experience participate to fight for a place at the main event. That level of accessibility is something we are proud of, and we are looking forward to continuing to help players take their first steps into competitive PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS.

Where can I watch PUBG Esports?

It depends on the event, but you can watch all major tournaments on the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS official Twitch channel and YouTube account. There are also regional streams available where fans can follow the action in various different languages.

Why should I tune in?

PUBG Esports features the best of the best coming up against each other and battling it out, what an opportunity to learn!

Additionally, in many tournaments you can earn in-game rewards and skins just for watching, so keeping an eye on the competitive scene is a great way to maximize your loot earning potential. We’ve also got an amazing community full of friendly fans and top-level players who are always happy to engage, come join us!

What are the PUBG Esports rules?

Once again, this can differ slightly depending on the tournament. However, all major tournaments abide by the Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset (SUPER) which can be found here

What are the key milestones taking place across 2022?

There is a lot going on this year, with the next major event on the horizon being the PUBG Nations Cup taking place in Thailand in June. Fans will then enjoy PCS7 Europe before the biggest tournament of the year: the PUBG Global Championship 2022 (PGC) which features the world’s best rosters. Teams battle for a place at this event throughout 2022 as at major tournaments they compete for vital PGC points. At the end of the year, those with the most points – as well as directly invited rosters – qualify for the event.

Those are the key events, but in between there will be plenty of PUBG Esports action with third party tournaments also taking place. Don’t miss G-Loot Season 6 coming soon in July where – you guessed it – PGC Points will be up for grabs.

What is at stake in PUBG Esports?

Everything! First up players are fighting for titles, bragging rights and the chance to call themselves the best. PUBG Esports rosters are fiercely competitive, and that competitiveness gives matches an edge that you don’t see in other esports. Additionally, squads battle it out for prize pools that can reach seven figures for certain events. And of course major events also have the aforementioned PGC Points, meaning there are no meaningless matches!

Which PUBG Esports org should I support?

That is entirely up to you! There are hundreds of reasons to support different PUBG Esports rosters. Things like playstyles, personalities and geographical locations are just some of the aspects that come into play when fans are deciding who to root for. Our advice is to get on Twitch, start watching matches and see who you feel a connection with!
