Europe Rosters Set To Make Their Mark At PNC 2022
2022-06-10

As the action inches ever closer we look at Europe’s PNC story, where it has come from and where it is going…

On Thursday the 16th of June, 16 nations from across the globe will lock horns to kick off the PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) 2022 – one of the most prestigious events in the PUBG Esports calendar.

It’s a truly unique tournament, with players who are usually rivals putting aside their differences to unite under their countries flags and battle it out for a share of the $500,000 USD prize pool.

To add fuel to the fire, all of the action will take place at a LAN event in Thailand with an excited live audience raring to go!

The countries competing at PNC 2022 are as follows:

Europe: Finland, Germany, Turkey UK
Asia: China, Chinese Taipei, Japan, South Korea,

Americas: Canada, USA, Brazil, Argentina

APAC: Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam

Europe: The class of 2019

The first edition of PNC was hosted back in 2019 at the Janchung Arena in Seoul, South Korea. Held over three days, it was a fierce tournament that saw 16 countries put it all on the line for the right to be crowned world champions, and secure as much of the $500. 000 USD prize pot as possible.

United Kingdom and Finland will have been disappointed with their showing, finishing in 15th and 16th place respectively. It was a spectacularly surprising turn of events for two nations who had been tipped to make a big impact pre-tournament. Turkey only fared slightly better, finishing the event nestled in between Brazil and Japan in 12th place.

Further up the table the region enjoyed more success with Germany finishing in 5th place with an impressive 102 points after 15 matches played.

Of course, the big question is how much bearing PNC 2019 will have on this year’s event. Finland’s mxey and UK’s vard and myKle are returning for another crack at the title, but the rest of the players are brand new! It’s also worth noting that Finnish and UK coaches Tiikzu and MiracU competed in 2019, will their invaluable experience help them mastermind their roster’s success this time around?

Ones things for sure, there is plenty of work from Europe to be done!

The Europe Rosters Travelling to Thailand

For each PNC 2022 roster, two players were selected based on previous performances and two players were selected via a vote by other professionals – each countries coach was then voted for by the chosen roster.

Country: Finland
Coach: Tiikzu

Roster: mxey, D1gg3r1 (Performance Players), curexi, Pag3 (Player Voted)
Lowdown: Team Finland has an impressively balanced roster with each member bringing a versatile skill set to the battlegrounds. The combination of curexi and PaG3 — who both play for Nordicwegian organization HEROIC — is guaranteed to excite fans, and everyone knows how dangerous mxey and D1gg3r1 are.

Country: Germany
Coach: ItzzChrizZ
Roster: Myca, PaiinZ (Peformance Players), AzzaRR, Zoccer (Player Voted)
Lowdown: Opponents will be wary of Team Germany who are hungry for success and ready to dominate the Battlegrounds. Myca and Zoccer have invaluable PCS experience, whilst PaiinZ and AzzaRR have shown much promise - could they be the next breakout stars? With a passionate fan base cheering them all the way to Bangkok, the squad will be determined to cause a few surprises.

Country: Turkey
Coach: onur
Roster: Smash, Quetpa (Performance Players), Esqui, xLyron (Player Voted)
Lowdown: Always aggressive and never afraid to take a fight, Team Turkey will be a roster to watch at PUBG Nations Cup 2022. Quetpa (BBL Esports), Esqui (HOWL), and xLyron (Futbolist) have all proven themselves as dangerous competitors in PCS events, and with Smash (BBL Esports) sharing his experience on the global stage at PGI.S and PGC 2021, Turkey will be seen as serious candidates to bring the PNC trophy home.

Country: United Kingdom
Coach: MiracU
Roster: vard, Fexx (Performance Players), TeaBone, mykLe (Player Voted)
Lowdown: With four of the most feared fraggers in PUBG Esports, the United Kingdom is sure to pick up plenty of kill points at PNC. Individually, vard (Team Liquid), Fexx (FaZe Clan), TeaBone (HEROIC), and myKle (XPLDZ) have plenty of top-level experience under their belts, and if they can develop a strong team chemistry in Thailand, no opponent will want to face them on the battlegrounds.
