PGC 2022: Europe Teams Preview
2022-10-29

For each team from Europe at this year’s PGC (PUBG Global Championship), the path has been fraught with intense competition around every turn. During PCS6, PCS7 and both seasons of G-Loot, the competition was fierce and only the best of the best made it to Dubai. Here are the stories of how they got here!

Question Mark

After a very strong podium finish in PCS5 last year, Question Mark fell off our radar somewhat, with them being notably absent from the G-Loot S5 and PCS6 Grand Finals. The team started to find their footing again with a respectable 8th place finish in G-Loot S6, which they followed up with a blowout victory in the PCS7 Grand Finals. ADOUZ1E and f1lfirst were instrumental, with f1lfirst dealing the second most damage of any player in PCS7 and ADOUZ1E leading the way in total kills, resulting in a truly dominant performance for Question Mark. It will be very interesting to see how this stellar Europe team fairs against the best teams from around the globe at PGC 2022.

Twisted Minds

Twisted Minds (formerly Northern Lights) is without a doubt one of the top teams in Europe right now. They have had consistent podium finishes throughout this year’s tournaments and while other teams like Entropiq and Question Mark arguably had more explosive performances, neither can match Twisted Minds’ persistent success across the year. Nobody embodies the cold consistency of Twisted Minds more than Perfect1ks, who was a top four damage dealer in every single tournament this year - with the rest of the team never following too far behind. As a team, Twisted Minds have a huge amount of star power and skill in their own right.

Entropiq

Entropiq are another team with a long history in PUBG Esports, being part of the scene since before PCS1. Although the team failed to qualify for the PCS7 Grand Finals, they had a truly one-of-a-kind tournament run in PCS6 and managed to secure the Championship title. Entropiq’s Naylup played a huge part in the team’s victory: not only did he deal the most damage in the tournament by a large margin, he also picked up the most kills. It’s rare to see a player clearly excel like this; even within the best PUBG Esports teams the support players tend to deal the lion’s share of the damage while the team’s fraggers will confirm most of the kills. The fact that Naylup has the skill to do both is evidence of his experience and confidence as a player.

FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan’s history in PUBG Esports is as long as PUBG Esports itself. They are one of the most decorated teams that have been active in the scene since before the first official first-party PUBG tournament (in 2018!). With podium finishes in PCS6 and G-Loot S6, they’ve continued to put up some remarkable performances leading up to PGC. It’s been a great year for Aitzy, who will soon be entering his fourth year with FaZe. He’s been one of the top support players, dealing the second highest damage of any player in G-Loot S6. The team’s unmatched experience and chemistry puts them in a very strong position for PGC 2022.

Polish Power

It's a great time to be a Polish PUBG Esports fan. The aptly named all-Polish squad Polish Power consistently ranks as one of the best teams in Europe. The team started playing in smaller tournaments in late 2020 and has gone from strength to strength this year. Their results improved with each tournament they played. Team captain Marcelek has had a particularly good year, becoming one of the top damage dealers in PCS7. K4pii also took his turn in the limelight, dealing the most assault rifle damage of any player in the tournament.

Natus Vincere

Even through multiple roster changes, Natus Vincere has continued to be a top contender in the Europe scene since 2018. The team has had some middling placements in the PCS this year, but they’ve put on consistently formidable performances in both G-Loot seasons. Though many teams have one or two star players, NAVI’s runway success in G-Loot came about as a result of every player pulling their weight and outputting huge damage numbers.

OVERPEEKERS

PCS65thG-Loot S54th
PCS79thG-Loot S610th

Similar to FaZe Clan, OVERPEEKERS are one of the most storied and experienced teams in PUBG Esports. The current roster of clib, jeemzz and mxey have played as a team for almost three years, with vard joining them earlier this year. Over the years, the team has had an ongoing rivalry with FaZe Clan. Having competed in all previous PGC tournaments, OVERPEEKERS’ roster is no stranger to competing on the world stage. With strong showings in PCS6 and G-Loot S5 they’ve demonstrated that they’re still more than capable of standing their ground.

BBL Esports

PCS64thG-Loot S53rd
PCS7N/AG-Loot S613th

As the only MENA representatives in PGC 2022, BBL’s all-Turkish squad have repeatedly proven that they can hold their own against the best teams in Europe. Smash had a dominant performance in G-Loot S5, taking home the most kills of any player in the tournament with a staggering 2.9 K/D ratio. Equally, during PCS6, Smash and CodeMarco both had phenomenal performances, enabling BBL’s eventual fourth place finish by getting the third and sixth highest number of kills in the tournament respectively.
